Custom Home Building

When you build a custom home, you have the opportunity to integrate your space to you and the land you inhabit. Perhaps you would like a yoga room that catches the sunrise, a kitchen that opens to the outdoors, or a workshop to craft furniture or art? Perhaps you want to make use of the natural resources that surround your home and give back to the environment through a rain-water catchment system? You can do all of that while engaging in a deeply rewarding and creative process, and investing in something that will last for generations.

Drawing on 30 years of experience and relationships, Sacred Oak Homes will work collaboratively with you and your architect to help perfect the details of your vision, assemble a team of local artisans selected specifically for your project, and carefully craft each part of your home as if it was our own. In addition to using tried and true methods, we will research and develop innovative ways to achieve your goals.

Custom-home building involves a good amount of research, innovation, decision-making, and implementation in all of the following areas:

  • Vision and plans (including design, site development, building orientation, etc)
  • Team assembly and management (aka Construction Management)
  • Construction (laying the foundation, framing the space, etc)
  • Finish work (what you see and feel, including custom carpentry and fine cabinetry)

The typical timeline for building a custom home is 9-12 months, but it can take longer depending on the size of your home, project complexity, location, weather, and other factors.

Custom Remodeling & Renovation

Remodeling is a wonderful way to shift an existing space to fit your unique desires and needs. By changing the form, function, and appearance of a room or a whole house, you can dramatically alter how your home feels, while increasing its energy efficiency and overall value.

Sacred Oak Homes will maintain the essence of your original building while crafting and seamlessly integrating a new, beautiful space for you and your loved ones. No matter the style of your home, be it colonial, federal, arts-and-crafts, modern or something else, our upgrades and additions will look as if they have always been there.

Remodeling can take place in the following ways:

Complete Gutting

Remove everything except the original structure in order to prepare the space for new infrastructure (new insulation, wiring, plumbing, etc) and surface-level finishes (everything you see, touch and use).

Structural remodel

Add or remove components that hold up the building, such as walls, floor joists, and roof rafters.

New additions

Adds a new room or section onto an existing building.

Surface-level Remodel

Change surface-level elements, such as trim, paint colors, cabinetry, light fixtures, and floor-covering.

The minimum time for a typical remodel is 2-3 months, but again this can vary considerably. Small jobs will be completed much more quickly, whereas some remodels are very extensive and can last more than a year.
